PJSC "NC "Rosneft" in the Consortium "Sakhalin-1" has successfully completed the drilling platform "Orlan" at the Chayvo field in the sea of Okhotsk the longest well in the world.
The length of the wells with horizontal completion of 15,000 m, which today is a world record. The well belongs to the category of extremely hard difficulty index for DDI (Directional drilling index) is 8.0 points, the deviation from the vertical is 14 129 m.
Since the implementation of the programme of drilling operations in 2003 in the framework of the project "Sakhalin-1" has been set several world records for drilling wells with large waste from the vertical. With the new record of a deep well to date, the Consortium "Sakhalin-1" drilled 9 of the 10 world's longest wells.
The rate of penetration of wells with large waste from the vertical in the project "Sakhalin-1" is one of the highest in the world thanks to modern and efficient technologies, such as the "Fast Drill". This technology combines high-performance physical modeling of drilling parameters with a structured approach to the design of wells. The drilling of wells with a large deviation can reduce the cost of construction of additional offshore facilities, pipelines and other elements of industrial infrastructure, and reduces environmental impact by reducing land area drilling and mining.
Since 2013, the project was already set five records for drilling wells with the world's largest depth of the trunk. So, in April 2015 was drilled production well O-14, the length of which amounted to 13 500 meters, in April 2014, was drilled and completed the well Z-40 with a length of 13,000 metres, in April and June 2013 drilled wells Z-43 Z-42 length 12 12 450 and 700 meters respectively.
